What does 112-based eCall cover?
EU 2015/758 establishes the type-approval framework for 112-based in-vehicle eCall systems, their components and separate technical units. Its main vehicle scope is M1 and N1, with exceptions to be assessed separately. An automatically or manually initiated emergency call combines a minimum set of data with an audio channel to the appropriate emergency response centre.
Prepare a functional chain, not just a parts list
Anemon recommends mapping each step from call initiation to data transfer and audio communication to the relevant vehicle unit. Record the antenna, control unit, microphone and power supply together with the vehicle variant and software identification. A supplier’s component document alone does not describe the complete vehicle integration.
Separate emergency calling from commercial services
Treat 112 eCall and third-party services as distinct data flows. The official text addresses emergency-purpose processing and a system that does not permit constant tracking. Review the data fields, retention approach and information supplied to the vehicle owner separately. Plan call verification in an authorised, controlled test setup.
Keep the edition and legal dates separate
The offered regulatory text is dated 17 November 2025; the RegsUP guidance is dated 10 October 2026. Neither date should be used as an application or transition deadline. For a new application, check vehicle scope, applicable official amendments and the associated testing legislation together. This purchase is a defined English PDF edition.
Sources and edition references
This official text supports the technical framework discussed here. Its publication date, the purchased PDF edition and the RegsUP guidance date are distinct. Check applicable amendments and transition provisions separately for a new application.
