Review the warning and the corrective intervention together
Treating a warning and a corrective intervention as the same requirement obscures the dossier scope. Prepare the ELKS review by reading the text, RegsUP guidance and manufacturer questions together.
Separate the two functions’ requirements
Compare the provisions for lane-departure warning and corrective directional control.
Add guidance to the technical review
Review manufacturer questions alongside the conditions of each answer and supporting source extracts.

Is ELKS just a lane-departure warning?
Under EU 2021/646, emergency lane keeping comprises a lane-departure warning system and a corrective directional control function. Issuing a warning and intervening in vehicle direction are different assessment subjects. The regulation addresses ELKS type-approval procedures and technical specifications for M1 and N1 vehicles.
Keep two functional traces in the dossier
Anemon recommends separate requirement and test references for the warning and corrective functions, then bringing them together under the same vehicle definition. Camera installation, steering or individual-wheel braking architecture and software identification should be consistent. Record driver override and system warning behaviour separately.
A test scenario is more than a road marking
The assessment also involves vehicle state, operating limits, failure behaviour and the driver interface. Show which requirement each test scenario addresses. Do not use ELKS as a promise of continuous automatic lane centring or autonomous driving; the function discussed here concerns correcting lane departure.
Choose the older edition for a defined purpose
The offered regulatory version is dated 20 April 2021; RegsUP guidance is dated 10 October 2026. The guidance date does not turn the text into a newer consolidation. Check later amendments and the applicable approval route separately for a new application. The image illustrates a closed test-road setting.
