Which distraction does ADDW address?
EU 2023/2590 sets test procedures and technical requirements for type approval with regard to advanced driver distraction warning systems. It focuses on prolonged visual distraction. It is a different assessment from DDAW for driver drowsiness; shared sensors do not merge the two functions’ evidence requirements.
Map gaze areas to the actual cabin
Anemon recommends mapping the driver’s ocular reference, cabin assessment areas and system inputs to the same vehicle drawing. Explain the warning trigger conditions and interaction with other vehicle warnings in the dossier. One successful demonstration does not provide evidence for every seating position and assessment condition.
Attention assessment is separate from identification
The official text is technology-neutral. Permission to use vehicle-camera data does not mean permission to identify the person; the requirement not to rely on biometric personal data is addressed separately. Define the attention metrics, processing boundaries and information given to the driver in a fault condition.
Read warning behaviour alongside the test plan
Manufacturer documentation should trace activation, reactivation, deactivation, system inputs and warning behaviour. No regulatory edition date is stated on this product’s cover; 10 October 2026 dates the RegsUP guidance. Check current application conditions against the official version separately. The sensor and sightline image is illustrative, not mandatory hardware or a measured result.

This official text supports the technical framework discussed here. Its publication date, the purchased PDF edition and the RegsUP guidance date are distinct. Check applicable amendments and transition provisions separately for a new application.
