Which tyre question does R30 address?
UN R30 concerns approval of new pneumatic tyres designed primarily for M1, N1, O1 and O2 vehicles. Read the scope and exceptions against the intended use. Approval of the tyre as a component and its suitability for installation on a particular vehicle are separate considerations.
Match the sidewall to the technical file
Start your review by recording the size designation, construction, load capacity and speed category together. Compare the marking drawing with that specification. This is Anemon’s suggested preparation sequence, rather than a substitute for a test report.
When adding a size variant, for example, review the scope of the existing approval and its test references instead of relying on an unchanged tread pattern. A matching trade name in a supplier file does not by itself establish technical equivalence.
Keep R30, R54 and R117 distinct
Commercial-vehicle tyres, noise, wet grip and rolling resistance can bring other regulations into the review. Begin with three questions: which tyre, which intended use and which approval subject? Related publications are sold separately; this product is the R30 edition.
What does 02/S27 identify?
It identifies the series and supplement level of the offered PDF. The included RegsUP guidance is dated 10 October 2026. That date is separate from legal entry into force and transition dates. Older base texts in the sources explain the technical framework; acceptance for a current application depends on the applicable official series and transition provisions.
