Is a category B licence enough to drive your caravan combination? In Türkiye, the answer depends on the authorised towing vehicle, the trailer's maximum laden mass and the entitlement recorded on the driver's licence. An O1 or O2 label in an advertisement is not the whole answer.
Which licence is needed in Türkiye?
Article 86 of the Turkish Road Traffic Regulation allows B, C, C1, D and D1 licence holders to attach a light trailer of up to 750 kg maximum laden mass to a vehicle they are entitled to drive. The towing vehicle's technical limits still apply. This article explains Turkish rules; it does not describe German, British or other countries' domestic licence rules.
O1, O2 and the 4,250 kg provision
O1 means a trailer with a maximum mass not exceeding 750 kg. O2 means more than 750 kg and up to 3,500 kg. These limits refer to maximum mass, not empty weight.
Article 75/e provides a B-category route for a combination up to 4,250 kg, subject to type-approval compatibility and the specified training or skills-and-behaviour examination. It is not an unconditional entitlement for every B holder. Check the driver's actual recorded entitlement.
Article 75/f defines BE for a B-category towing vehicle with a trailer or semitrailer whose maximum laden mass does not exceed 3,500 kg. Driver entitlement and the vehicle's permitted combination and towing limits must both be satisfied. Avoid a blanket rule that every O2 combination has the same licence requirement.
A suitable licence does not increase towing capacity
A BE licence does not allow a car to tow any O2 caravan. Check the permitted braked or unbraked towing mass, combination limit and coupling suitability. For example, a 750 kg trailer may meet the light-trailer licence rule, but still exceed the car's unbraked towing limit.
What about motorhomes?
A motorhome is a motor vehicle, not a trailer. Read its registered vehicle type, maximum laden mass, seating information and the driver's categories and codes together. A conversion does not automatically preserve the original vehicle's licence requirements.
Article 75 defines B for cars and light goods vehicles, and C1/C for trucks and tractors within their definitions. Do not assume B entitlement for a vehicle above 3,500 kg; equally, weight alone does not establish that every motorhome is a truck. Obtain vehicle-specific confirmation from the competent registration or driver-licensing unit.

- Match the VIN, CoC and registration record.
- Identify whether the vehicle is a trailer or motorhome.
- Check maximum laden mass and towing-vehicle limits.
- Confirm licence categories, codes and additional entitlement.
- Review the separate O1 registration requirements.
